Delarosa Aesthetics holds a special significance as it is derived from my grandmother’s name Rosa Delarosa, which translates into rose of the rose in Spanish. Delarosa Aesthetics is not just a business, but a heartfelt tribute to the remarkable women who have shaped my life. Inspired by the stories passed down from my grandmother, Rosa Delarosa, and the memory of my mother, Gloria E. Santano, I embarked on a journey of transformation and empowerment, which forms the very foundation of Delarosa Aesthetics.

My grandmother (Abuela), a woman of beauty and strength, was originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico. She became my refuge and source of solace after the tragic loss of my mother at a young age. Little did I know then that her stories would profoundly shape the person I am today. In my grandmother’s presence, a world of wisdom and beauty unfolded before my eyes. Through her gentle guidance, I discovered the transformative power of skincare and self-care. 

She taught me the importance of exfoliation and the art of embracing my femininity and inner strength through self-care as I watched her use a pink electric rotary facial brush during her morning cleansing beauty rituals.

Beyond skincare, my Abuela’s creative spirit knew no bounds. I watched in awe as she breathed new life into discarded Coke cans, crafting mini intricate doll furniture with artistry and precision. Through her, I learned to see the inherent beauty in the simplest things and the value of re-purposing. She knew how to crochet, collected dolls, and loved beautiful things. 

Abuela’s love for cooking and dancing intertwined harmoniously in the heart of her kitchen. She passionately prepared Puerto Rican delicacies and shared stories of her vibrant salsa dancing days. Her zest for movement and rhythm infused her culinary creations, turning each dish into a symphony of flavors and a celebration of life. These cherished moments with my abuela became invaluable treasures in my journey. 

Her wisdom on skincare, her love for self-expression, and her ability to find beauty in the ordinary continue to inspire me even today.

In honor of her enduring legacy, I established Delarosa Aesthetics to share the gifts she bestowed upon me with others. Through the stories my Abuela shared, I also discovered the truth about my mother’s untimely death due to domestic violence. I learned about my mother’s unwavering dedication to caring for her long, healthy black hair, even in adversity. My aunts spoke of her favorite colors, and later, through my father, I discovered long-lost friendships she held with others and reunited with my long-lost godmother after 42 years. 

Additionally, my abuela and I would take walks throughout Brooklyn, NY, as if it were the runway, adorned in our finest attire, leaving a lasting impression on everyone we encountered. She proudly displayed me to her friends with her thick Puerto Rican accent, telling all the neighbors, “This is my granddaughter. She looks just like my Gloria.” Despite our hardships, my grandmother’s resilience and commitment to self-care shone through. She was a breast cancer survivor whose true beauty emanated from a place of wisdom and confidence gained from experience, growth, and strength.

The passing of my grandmother due to COVID-19 and the realization of my mother’s struggles further fueled my determination to create Delarosa Aesthetics. It’s not just a business; it’s a tribute to their legacies and a profound healing process for me. It’s a personal journey and lifestyle I share with you, a reminder of the strength and beauty that can emerge from pain and adversity.

Delarosa Aesthetics symbolizes resilience, breaking the cycle of low socioeconomic poverty and domestic violence while empowering others to discover the beauty and strength within themselves. It is a testament to the extraordinary women who have shaped my life and are a beacon of light for those on their journey of self-discovery.
